Simple and Stunning Cakes

Greg and Max are a well-known British cooking duo and this is their their fourth book. In it there are wonderfully original, yet fairly simple to make, cakes for special occasions. In addition to looking good, these cakes taste good too. Greg and Max use a wide variety of unusual bases, including meringue, panettone and orange and almond cake, a far cry from the often disappointing fruit cake which lies below many a coating of royal icing. There is a great deal of emphasis on decoration with separate chapters on flowers, ribbon and fabrics, and overall design. Their presentations are beautiful and somewhat flamboyant; their cakes, rich and satisfying. There are helpful and inspiring photos throughout.
